FROM THE SOUTH BEND COMMUNITY GARDENS:

You are invited to a Community Garden Open House Tuesday,
September 16 at 6:30pm at the Potawatomi Greenhouse
.

The event will present information about how to start a community
garden in South Bend.  It will also help to connect you to the people
and resources you may need to assist with the process. After the
presentation and networking times have concluded, all participants are
invited to tour the Greenhouse Community Garden and/or visit other
area community gardens.

We hope that you will be able to join us as we learn to grow more
gardens.  If you know of others who may be interested in the event,
feel free to pass this email along, or go to the South Bend Community
Gardens website at www.sbcg.org and print off
the event flyer available under the “events” tab.

"Meet the Candidates Night"
Thursday, Sept. 18 beginning at 6:30, at the Elks Club,
3535 E. McKinley Avenue.

Candidates who have been invited include those seeking election to the
U.S. House of Representatives, District 2, the Indiana State Senate
and House of Representatives. 

Also invited are candidates for  St. Joseph County Treasurer, County
Commissioner, and County Council.

The event is sponsored by the League of Women Voters, the Real Estate
Investors Association of North Central Indiana, the American
Association of University Women, and the American Association of
Retired People.

The annual Hazel B. Hunter Memorial Life Membership
Luncheon
will be held on Saturday, September 20, at 11:30
am at The Landing

Tickets for the luncheon are $35 for adults and $20 for youth under 18
years of age.  The speaker will be Attorney Barbara Bolling, Indiana
State Conference President of the NAACP.  For more information, call
