1. Rally to support the right to vote for a union at the SB Housing
Authority
Members of Teamster Local 364 have participated in many Community Forum
activities, including as a sponsor of the 2007 Spring Forum.
We have been asked to invite participation in tomorrow’s rally at the South
Bend Housing Authority in support of maintenance employee efforts to unionize.
The rally will be held on Wednesday, January 23, at 5:10 pm, at the South Bend
Authority, 501 Alonzo Watson Drive.

William Julius Wilson is Lewis P. and Linda L. Geyser University Professor
at Harvard University. His teaching and research interests include urban
poverty, urban race and class relations, and social inequality in
cross-cultural perspective. He is the author of Power, Racism, and Privilege;
The Declining Significance of Race; The Truly Disadvantaged; When Work
Disappears; The Bridge Over the Racial Divide; and There Goes the Neighborhood.
A sociologist with a PhD from Washington State University.
Wilson is a
MacArthur Prize Fellow and the recipient of the 1998 National Medal of Science.
He has been elected to the National Academy of Sciences, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the National Academy of Education, the American
Philosophical Society, and the Institute of Medicine.
projects include studies of race and the social organization of neighborhoods,
the effects of high-risk neighborhoods on adolescent social outcomes, and the
effects of welfare reform on poor families and children.
